A notable decline in infrastructure attacks with physical consequences has been observed, with a 25% decrease recorded. The relative lack of awareness among hackers about OT systems has contributed to this decline, as they often focus on more familiar information technology (IT) systems1. However, this lull is not expected to last, and security professionals must remain vigilant to emerging threats. The decrease in attacks with physical consequences matters to practitioners because it highlights the importance of staying informed about the evolving threat landscape and adapting defenses accordingly.
