Türkiye has unveiled a national quantum roadmap, pinpointing 85 key technologies in computing, sensing, and communication as priorities, with 34 slated for near-term development and 51 for long-term focus1. The roadmap is the result of a collaborative effort involving 305 experts from 123 institutions, who utilized a structured scoring system to evaluate and rank technologies based on priority and maturity. Quantum security, cryptography, sensing, and secure communications have been identified as areas of near-term strength, while the report also highlights the need for a domestic supply chain. The roadmap's emphasis on these areas underscores the country's commitment to developing a robust quantum ecosystem. This matters to practitioners because it signals a significant investment in quantum technologies, which will likely have far-reaching implications for the development of secure communication systems and cryptographic protocols.
